Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/ Sorcerer's stone 🧙🏻‍♂️

I am an avid Harry Potter lover and that its very recent when I came to know what Harry Potter actually is about. I was introduced to it during this "lockdown" time when I suddenly had a craving for Harry Potter's. To be honest, please don't judge my skills its the first time of me writing a review. 🖊

I had never watched a single movie neither did I read any books but I though of beginning my "WIZARDING WORLD JOURNEY" as the Potterheads would say. I decided to start my Wizarding Journey through the books and yeah, I prefer books over movies. As books have their own sense of adventure. They transport a reader into an entire different world. A world of imagination created just by you.

To give review on the books. I have read book 4 in all. There are 7 book in this series in which there is an additional book. Book 8. Which is a play.

📚The total Harry Potter books are as follows📚-

1. Harry Potter and the Philosophers/ Sorcerers stone.

2. Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets.

3. Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.

4. Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.

5. Harry Potter and The Order of Phoenix.

6. Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince.

7. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.

8. Harry Potter and The Cursed Child.

Let's talk about book one as I'm going to give my reviews on that and that's the only movie that I have watched today for the first time ever!

Harry Potter and The Philosopher's/Sorcerer's stone🧙🏻‍♂️

The name for the title depends from where you are. As, J. K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter series wrote the book 1 as Philosopher's stone and not as Sorcerer's Stone but while making the movie Warner Bros Entertainment, the company that holds half the share of the movie changed the name of the movie as ''Sorcerer's stone". The name still stays the same for some countries including U.K.

The title itself suggests that the movie is based on a ''Magical Stone'', whether Sorcerer's stone or Philosopher's.

This movie one introduces us to a orphaned boy Harry Potter who lost his parents as they were killed due to an Evil Sorcerer, Lord Voldemort who is also going to be our villain in many coming movies. Harry was the only one who escaped from Voldemort's curse who Voldemort ever tried to kill. Harry was left in the doorstep of his not so loving Aunt and Uncle by his soon be to teachers at the prestigious Wizarding School, Hogwarts. Until his 11th Birthday he finds out that he is a wizard through a letter and that's when our adventure really kicks off.

You can see Harry making lot of friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger and enemies who is obviously Draco Malfoy.

🍿The Movie 🎬 -

The Movie is quite different than the books as a lot of parts have been changed and deleted. That blemish cannot be seen, thank god! I am surprised as this movie perfectly captures whatever you wished is impossible is possible! As speaking about the year 2000 when this movie was actually released the technologies were not well developed but still this movie strikes a chord within the viewers and keeps you on the seat till the end. You can actually feel the thrill and excitement.

The characters too were played by perfectly good people. Daniel Radcliffe who plays Harry Potter, Rupert Grint who played Ron Weasley, Emma Watson who played Hermione Granger were exactly like you imagined them to be. Except for Draco Malfoy played by Tom Felton. He wasn't shown as cruel as he was shown in the book. In fact in books Draco was shown as a very bad kid. You can actually hate him in it due to the things he do but in the movie 1 he didn't had much role like it did in books.

The Golden Trio's which is Harry, Hermione and Ron's meet is surely mesmerising as it my one of the most favorite parts of the movie and was just the way I expected. Hermione was as nerdy as said in the books and Harry brave, Ron stupid!

📚Differences in books and movie🎬🍿 -

(Might be some spoilers!)

In the books Draco's and Harry's first meet was not near the staircases to the Grand Hall but in the Hogwarts Express itself. The part where Hagrid, the gamekeeper at Hogwarts and Harry's best friend, gets a dragon. In book actually there is a whole chapter dedicated to Norbert as the Dragon was called as ''Norbert The Norweigen Ridgeback". It had a story like Hagrid takes care of him for a long time except when it becomes big and when Malfoy watches the dragon. That's when Ron says that to his older brother Charlie who lives in Romania studying about Dragons and some of his friends come to take Norbert. In the book no one knew about Hagrid having a Dragon.

In the part when Harry, Ron and Hermione get caught for detention it was because they were talking to Neville who wouldn't let them go. Which the trio accidently mistaked as Malfoy saw them making the dragon escape. Draco reported about this to Professor Mc. Gonagall who gave detention to them three including Draco and Neville and Hagrid makes them come to Forbidden Forest with him as a punishment. Where Draco, Neville and Fang are a team with other team of Harry, Ron, Hermione and Hagrid of course!

During Christmas Ron's mum too send Harry a Weasley jumper. While entering in the room of three head dog, Harry receives a flute as a Christmas present from someone, Hagrid I guess..so he uses that to make the three head dog sleep.

In the quest for finding the stone Ron loses at chess and then Harry and Hermione move ahead and there was another obstacle which has been omitted from the movie. Selecting the correct portion. In which Harry and Hermione had given a riddle and 4 different portions. They had to solve that to get past the last door where Quirell was waiting. It was a Riddle that said what each portion was about and they had to drink the right portion to get past the door. Portion 1 was poison, 2nd would be about sending you back where you came from, 3rd was about ...I don't remember clearly it was about forgetting your memory something and the last one was sending you to next door. Hermione choses to go back and Harry moves ahead.

Thus, these were the differences.

Movies and the books both are best in their own style. This movie might make you emotional in some scenes or might bring out a good chuckle out of you or sometimes make you litrally make hate some characters deeply. But, that's what makes this movie special. I really enjoyed movie 1. And without a second of thinking I'd give this movie 5/5. It will definitely make you a Potterhead for sure. In some scenes you actually feel like everything is happening right in front of you. This is one of the best movies for sure that I've seen in my life and you too would never regret watching it!
